Secret Santa Generator

Add the names, say who should not get each other (couples, families), add a budget, and draw. Nobody gets themselves. Every person gets their own private link that holds only their match, so you can send them without seeing who got whom. No accounts, no servers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I, the organiser, see who got whom?

The page shows you only the names and a Copy button for each person, never the pairs. The organiser, the person who runs the draw, can still read every match: the links are not encrypted, so anyone who handles them can decode them, and opening a link shows that person's match. Do not open the links you send, and send each person only their own link. If you take part yourself, send your own link to yourself first.

How does a private link work without a server?

Each person's match is written in their link after the # sign. Browsers never send that part of an address to a server, so Qivtools never receives it, and nothing is saved or logged. Anyone who gets the link can read that one match, so send it only to its owner.

What if the rules make a draw impossible?

The tool says so and names the person who has nobody left to draw. This happens when a rule leaves someone with no one to give to, for example a couple in a group of three. Remove a rule or add another person.

Can someone draw themselves, or two people swap?

Nobody draws themselves, ever, and nobody draws someone you ruled out. With No swaps on (the default), nobody draws the person who drew them either, so there are no A-to-B and B-to-A pairs. Switch it off if you have only a few people.

What happens if I close the page or draw again?

The draw is not stored, so closing the tab forgets it, but the links you already sent keep working because they hold the match themselves. Pressing Draw again makes a new draw and replaces every link, so you must send the new ones.
