Base64 Encode and Decode
Encoding turns UTF-8 text, or a file under 256 KB, into the Base64 alphabet used in JSON, HTML and email. Decoding reverses it. A broken string, or bytes that are not UTF-8 text, is rejected instead of shown as garbage.
Frequently asked questions
Why was my string rejected?
The alphabet, the length, or the padding did not match Base64, or the bytes were not UTF-8 text. It is not guessed.
Can I encode a file?
Yes, a file under 256 KB. It is read in this tab and never uploaded. Bytes that are not text can be downloaded after decoding instead of being shown.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. This runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste or drop is uploaded or stored by Qivtools.
