Which characters are kept?
Lowercase letters a–z and digits. Accents are removed first, letters like ß and ø are spelled out, and everything else becomes a single hyphen.
Does the length cap cut words in half?
It cuts at the limit and then removes any trailing hyphen. Pick a limit a little above the length you want if you care about whole words.
Is the slug unique?
No. It is only a cleaned version of the text. Your site still has to check that no other page uses it.
